Junior Grand Finals Wrap

Updated: Apr 9

#grandfinalwrap  Over the past 2 weekends we witnessed 3 great games of cricket, in 3 Grand Finals, and all 3 games culminated in a victory for our teams. Our Under 11's, our Under 14's and our Under 16's all played with great determination and at times finesse, #mountiescricket is very proud of all our teams and their efforts.

UNDER 11'S - Lost the toss and were asked to bowl first. And what a fielding performance they produced! The team held onto 6 catches, took 6 run outs plus a stumping! Every bowler also took a wicket to really round off a wonderful all-round team victory (Hussy Khanooni 3/14). Their outstanding performance in the field could not be matched by the opposition and the youngsters showed their class with the bat as well. Arnav Chavan (16 no) and Vincent Doan (17).

UNDER 14's - Bowled first, and bowled well, with Kanishua Gaba leading the way with his first 5 wicket haul of the season! With figures of 5/ 11 Kanishua took both the first and last wickets of the innings, and was almost unplayable at times. In the run chase, Vihaan Shah (35) and Vivaan Shah (39) worked hard together to build a partnership and a platform to chase the target of 157 runs. Ben Ryan was then the glue for the middle and lower orders with his 16 not out, hitting a 4 to secure the victory for his team.

UNDER 16'S - Mounties batted first and after a slightly shaky start, Shayan Raza and Michael Clark came to the crease and steadied the ship. Shayan Raza, in his usual aggressive batting style scored 78 runs off 70 balls, with Michael Clark the perfect steady partner (37) at the other end, they crafted an 119 run partnership and had Mounties in prime position. Mounties finally dismissed for 203.

Mounties then bowled and fielded well as a team, dismissing the opposition for 76 runs ,with Harshdeep Singh just edging out the others with bowling figures of 3/22. Robert Chant also had a great day in the field with 2 catches and a run out. Overall a superb team performance, Mounties Under 16's unbeaten minor and major premiers for 2045/25!
